The latest in a growing list of los grillos’ favorite eighties metal revivalists comes in the form of Between the Devil and the Sea from Germany’s Scavanger. Like fellow Deutschländer rockers Powerwolf, Scavanger cranks out a classic power metal sound–but with a look that is less death metal makeup and hair and more NWOBHM denim and leather. So true to the power metal tradition is Scavanger, both in writing and production, that it would be easy to mistake the album for a lost recording of a band that shared the stage with, but not the relative fame of, the likes of Helloween, Manowar, or early Iron Maiden. Dig it.

Between the Devil and the Sea is out now via Germany’s Rock It Up Records. It doesn’t look like it’s available in the States yet, but you can check it out via Amazon.de here.
